1. A green light appears for few seconds
2. Yellow light flashes for about a second
3. PS3 makes 3 short beeps
4. Red light keeps blinking until you power the console off

Step 3: Deciding Which Option To Take To Fix the YLOD

These are your options if your PS3 has the YLOD, and you want to fix it:

Option 1:
If your PS3 is still under warranty simply call Sony at 800-345-7669 (800-345-SONY) and tell them you have the PS3 YLOD error. You will then have to send in your PS3 for a free repair – the downside here is that you will have to cover the shipping costs and wait for a few weeks to get your console back.

Option 2:
Has your warranty expired? Will Sony still fix it? The answer is, yes they will (or they may send you a refurbished one) but they will charge you $150 + shipping and you will only receive a 3 months warranty on the repaired or refurbished PS3. So if you get the YLOD again after 3 months you (which happens) you will have to pay $150 again… I personally would not recommend this option.

Option 3:

While this might sound scary at first (especially if you are not very tech savvy), don’t worry because it’s really not difficult to do at all!
